Juniors golf season commences

School is out for summer break and the weather is being gorgeous. I'm giving lots of lessons and having fun grooming many enthusiastic junior golfers.

Practice is fun when you are are not only well looked after but also have beautiful Torrey Pines GC to look at when you do take your eyes off the golf ball!

By the way, congratulations to Yani Tseng for an(other) amazing feat of golfing at the LPGA Championship! Wow!

Back to cooler San Diego

I had a good time at LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage last week, though the first few days there were so hot and sunny that I was sunburned extra crispy by the weekend.

The crowd was enthusiastic and it was a lot of fun giving golf clinic. The golf course was in a great shape. My friend Yani (Tseng) did very well but left just enough putts on the green to not get to jump into Poppie's pond this year. Congratulations to Stacey Lewis who was as steady as a rock and really came through for the win.

Going to Kraft Nabisco

I am crossing the mountain to Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage (near Palm Springs) today for the LPGA Tour's Kraft-Nabisco Championship week. It is the first major professional golf tournament of the year, and I will be teaching for the LPGA golf clinic there when I'm not catching up with some friends and cheering on some good golf!

Spring is really here (even if Old Man Winter is still trying to overstay his welcome with all these late season storms) and everything is blooming. I hope others who are going to spectate at the tournament have also taken care of their allergy medications else they turn the golf course into a sneezing and coughing ring (we all know how touchy professional golfers can be especially when each putt is worth a grand or two!).

March on the range

Hello!
Spring is around the corner and golf fever is in the air. Players who had put their clubs away for the winter months are turning back up on the Torrey Pines driving range and practice greens. Things are definitely looking up now that warmer weather is on its way.

Don't believe me? Ask the range dogs!
